World's Best Sommelier 2004

In October 2004, Enrico Bernardo, at the age of only twenty seven, became the youngest ever World Champion Sommelier. Never before had this happened and his achievement was highly acclaimed internationally.


Despite his youth, he has already won
many awards:

  • -Best Sommelier of Europe (2002)
  • -Best Sommelier of Italy (1996-97)
  • -Best Sommelier of Lombardy (1996)
  • -Master of Port of Italy (1995)
  • -Best European Student of Cuisine (1993)

Enrico Bernardo has been based in France for several years. Enriched by his different experiences with such prestigious establishments as the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, Les Frères Troisgros in Roanne (France) or the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris (Director of Sommellerie and creation of a wine cellar of 60000 bottles and 1800 references), he has been able to develop a very active role in Consulting: Bernardo Wine Consulting with the head office in Barcelona.


Today, Enrico Bernardo is considered as a reference in the world of Gastronomy and wine.

  • - Author of the book “The Way to Wine Tasting” – edited by Plon (best sales of wine books in 2005 and 2006)
  • - Creator of a range of wine glasses “The First” with Zwiesel 1872 (famed German glass producers specializing in hand-blown glass)
  • - Designer of the famous Château Laguiole cork-screw that bears his name.
  • - Member of several institutions who have honored his achievements:

 

  • Officer of the Ordre des Coteaux Champenois (2006)
  • Sommelier of the year 2005
  • Chevalier of the Ordre du Mérite Agricole (2005)
  • Chevalier of the Ordre de Taste-vin de Bourgogne (2004)

Motivated by these enrichments and expressions of recognition, Enrico Bernardo opened in September 2007 in Paris his first Wine Restaurant Il VINO by Enrico Bernardo. Already the new Hit address for fine dining lovers, the place where wine is a permanent guest (1 Star Michelin 2008).

Since December 6th, 2007, you are also able to enjoy the magical bound of exceptional vintage and delicate cuisine in his second restaurant "Il Vino" in Courchevel (1 Star Michelin 2010).
