The profession of sommelier has became popular in Hungary in 1990 with the start of the sommelier training, thanks to the Order of the seven Wine Judges. In 1997 the Association was admitted to the National Association of the Hungarian Gastronomy. The HSA organize the national competition every year.

Participation in tastings with wine magazines Decanter, Borigo, Borivo, excecution of national wine contests Pannon Wine and Best 100 Hungarian wines, monthly tasting of the association, with Foreign Ministry lectures abroad about Hungarian wines.
