The Association of Sommeliers of Chile is a non-profit organization which aims to rely on the legal recognition in Chile since the year 2000. Its Board, formed by seven professional sommeliers, has as mission to professionalize the service of wine in Chile according to the parameters of ASI. For this, it has created the School of Sommeliers of Chile, an educational technical organization that trains future professionals on wine knowledge and service, with the objective of playing an important role in the gastronomic industry in our country, particularly in hotels and restaurants, and being a recognizable key player in the wine trade.

The School of Sommeliers of Chile is a dependent organism of the Association of Sommeliers of Chile. This initiative was born at the end of 1999 and responds to the necessity to professionalize this activity in Chile, and to offer real opportunities in this country for those who decide to pursue this work. This qualification is directed to people who have a direct connection with the service of wine. The courses include:
Wine History – Vinification – Processes of the grapevine – Wines and Gastronomy – Wines and food paring – Service of Wines in the Restaurant – Wine Tastings – Viticultural Regions of Chile and the World – Spirits and Liqueurs .In order to obtain the title of Professional Sommelier, the students must approve levels I, II and III, and attend to more than 360 hours of theoretical and practical classes.

Appellative qualifying examination of Sommelier (annual), appellative qualifying examination of Wine Adviser (annual), appellative qualifying examination of Wine Expert (annual), appellative qualifying examination of Senior Sommelier (annual), all Japan Best Sommelier Contest (triennial), all Japan Wine Adviser Championship (triennial), wine Expert Contest (triennial), sommelier basic skills seminar (annual), JSA produced the video named “Road to Sommelier”, correspondence course of wine studies for the appellative qualifying examinations.

Training of the Sommelier professional: to extend the training and qualification to professionals and the general public, to take care of and to maintain the prestige of the Association of Sommelier of Chile, reinforcing its quality of being the only recognized organization and leader in the professional training of Sommeliers.
