competitions:Best Sommelier of Europe and (ASI) the World, Sopexa, and in the future, Master of Port Financing and supporting the ASSP by the intermediary of the producers and importers.

The first state examinations for obtaining the Diploma of Sommelier federal were validated by the head of the government in the Canton of Ticino. These first official examinations took place in October 2001. All the members of the Central committee were present. A Ticino Cantonal committee was elected: Davide Comoli, Piero Tenca, Gino Fontana, Mauro Scolari, Sandro Guarneri, Gianni Moresi, Stefano Valli and Aris Balmelli are members of this Commission.; In parallel, a working group, which brings togheter representatives of the Vocational schools of all Cantons wrote and presented Rules of Examination at Hotel Gastro Formation
( Swiss official body for the Hotel examinations) for thesetting-up of a Sommelier Certificate which should be recognized on a national scale by the Federal department of the Vocational training; In the years to come the objectives of the ASSP are: setting-up and validation of the national examination of Sommelier, development of intensive courses at first level on the Ticino model in three linguistic areas. This basic education course for the profession of Sommelier will enable the candidates to prepare for the Federal Qualification of Capacity (CFC) of Sommeliers: a national didactic, referred to ASSP, which will be used as a basis for the courses, the contests and in order to obtain an internal certificate; In the hierarchy of the dining room, a sommelier who will hold the Federal Qualification of Capacity (CFC) will carry out orders: a sommelier who will hold the Federal Certificate will be regarded as a person in charge for the service and inventory turnover; a Sommelier who will hold the Federal Master will be regarded as a person in charge for financial management. In 2002 the first national certificate for the profession of the sommelier was granted to 28 graduates of the first class and to all those of the Education and Examinations Committee. In 2004, 10 Sommeliers were given the State Diploma. In 2007 we started the new exams, counting 19 graduates.

Attribution for the price for the Best Wine List; Creation of a National Commission; cellar management control, wine service, behavior of the sommelier in charge, who must be graduate.
Creation of an annual event per area for the development of the image of the sommelier, by using media, restaurant owners, hotel-keepers, people of the trade and producers of wine.
Magazine “Sommelier Suisse”: it is the official medium of communication for all the sommelier members of the Swiss Confederation; it provides information on the job offers and applications, on the associative policy of the three linguistic areas on all the events in connection with tasting or with innovations, as well as wine and legislative information, in Europe and 107worldwide.
